In July 2025, Jonathan Haynsworth began a three-month immersive internship with Summit Technologies. Jonathan, a retiring US Army Command Sergeant Major (CSM), approached Summit to secure an internship that would further develop his knowledge of business development.
The Army's Career Skills Program (CSP) assists transitioning service members by helping them find an internship, apprenticeship, or certification program, which is generally completed in the 180 days before their last day on active duty. Transitioning service members gain insight into new career fields, while partnering companies can invest in the future of the civilian workforce and see successful development. For the duration of the internship, Soldiers remain on permissive duty status and receive normal active duty pay and benefits. Through CSPs, service members can earn certifications and unique training that can set them apart from their peers as they leave military service.
Andrew Swedberg, a Business Development Analyst on Summit's Business Development team, served as Jonathan’s mentor during the internship. This type of mentor-style sponsorship facilitated authentic experience in capture management, solicitation research, proposal writing, writing compliance, pricing best practices, and lessons learned. Jonathan completed the internship with an eagerness and drive that will make him a valuable addition to any company.
Summit Technologies, Inc, was honored to support Jonathan Haysnworth during his internship and transition from Army service to civilian life!
