Internships Support Service Members and Strengthen Summit Technologies

04/18/2024

Don Colemon, Summit InternIn April 2024, Don Colemon began an 11-week immersive internship with Summit Technologies. Don, a retiring US Army officer from Fort Leonard Wood, MO, approached Summit Technologies to secure an internship that would further develop his knowledge of business development. The Army's Career Skills Program (CSP) assists transitioning service members by helping them find an internship, apprenticeship, or certification program, which is generally completed in the 180 days before their last day on active duty. Transitioning service members gain insight into new career fields, while partnering companies are able to invest in the future of the civilian workforce and see successful development.

For the duration of the internship, Soldiers remain on permissive duty status and receive normal active duty pay and benefits. Through CSPs, service members can earn valuable certifications and unique training that can set them apart from their peers. Don is individually partnered with Andrew Swedberg, a Capure Manager on Summit's Business Development team. This type of mentor-style sponsorship facilitates authentic experience in capture management, proposal writing, solicitation compliance, best practices, and lessons learned. Interestingly, in 2021, Andrew also participated in CSP as an intern with Summit Technologies during his transition from active duty to civilian service.

Summit Technologies, Inc, is honored to support Don Colemon during his internship and transition from Army service to civilian life!
